Thierry Vintage Workshop is a great place to stay! It was clean, neat and very interesting decorated. No IKEA for Thierry.
In August, the most parkingspace is for free, so we were able to park the car in the street. Metrostation is around the corner.
Thierry was interested in us and in our stay, and we will certainly think of his place whenever we want to go to Paris again.
Sorry for this late review, but imidiately after Paris we went for two weeks to India, so we were very busy.
Thank you, Thierry and Wimdu for everything!
Hope to meet again,
Klaas and Anne Marie van de Belt, Holland
I just can summarize the apartment as awsome! I would love to have it as my own. Silent, despite the area which is alive even nighttimes, cool in the summer, cool design and interior, confortable in all ways, both equipment and beds, The owner a perfect host that showed us how all the technique was working. Love to come back.
I'm completely in love with this space! One of my deciding factors in booking an apartment in Paris was whether or not the place had been Ikea-d. 10 years ago, there were so many interesting apartments, now they all seem to look like an Ikea catalog shoot. Thierry's place is warm and inviting and easy to live in, and looks like it might have 100 years ago, but with modern amenitites. There were just two of us, so one used the bedroom and one used to sleeper sofa. Neither of us had any trouble sleeping. We enjoyed making full use of the kitchen, which wins hands down over any other space with a 2-burner hotplate. The neighborhood is diverse and interesting. The butcher around the corner is fantastic, and we liked both bakeries that are between the apartment and the metro stop; the open market on Tuesdays and Fridays is a lot of fun. Having a fully equipped apartment made our trip so easy. The only teeny problem we had was figuring out the dryer portion of the combo washer/dryer, but because the heat was on, it was easy enough to hang clothes to dry overnight. I also would have loved to peruse the book loft, but I understand that that is Thierry's personal space; I enjoyed just perusing the titles from below. I would happily recommend this space to anyone considering it (but heed his advice on the space not being suitable for anyone who has problems with stairs or is very overweight. I'm plus-size, and the spiral staircase to the bedroom wasn't a problem, but might have been for anyone larger than me. The apartment is also technically in the basement - one level below street level - so the first and last thing you're faced with every day is a steep, narrow set of stairs.) We never did meet Thierry, but he left us a bottle of wine, and contacted us by email a couple of times to make sure we weren't having any trouble and were enjoying our stay. Thanks Thierry!
Brilliant location (quiet apartment / no noise, but lively neighbourhood with lots of bars, restaurants, cafes, shops to explore),
great host (professional and kind, all smooth),
beautiful ambiance, according to my taste: Authentic Paris comfy industrial shabby chic - a great cure from boring hotel rooms!
Many thanks - i will come back?!
Thierry was a lovely host, very nice and always with a quick SMS response. The flat is great and all you need is inside. We felt very comfortable. Cleanliness is okay. The apartment is located 2 minutes from the "Oberkampf" - so the middle of a nightlife district. The flat is in a courtyard and so it is very quiet. For the city center you have to change métro at least once, and in winter the apartment is a little bit dark. But otherwise: super! Thanks!
