Large, stylish flat in the heart of Leipzig
|地址||Shakespearestr, 04107 Leipzig, 德国|
Very centrally located in a quiet side street in famous Südvorstadt, close to tram. Famous landmarks in the city are easily reachable on foot.
The combination of historical and economic development, not to mention the numerous cultural highlights make Leipzig one of the most popular and beautiful cities in Germany. The charm of this city is reflected through the richly decorated façades of the 19th century Kaiser Wilhelm period. You will find plenty to accommodate music fans in the ‘Musikviertel’ or the music quarter, that perfectly blends architecture with cultural interest.
Just a short distance from the ‘Musikerviertel’ you will find the largest alluvial forest in Europe, a must-see for those who love to get out into the country. Looking for more? That’s ok, because you will find more than 40 exotic animal species in the theme parks Africa, Asia and South America, Pogoland and Gondwanaland in Leipzig Zoo.
Not far from the Zoo you will find the greatest terminal train station in Europe, ‘Leipzig Hauptbahnhof’ or Leipzig Central Station. In addition to its stunning architecture and 298m long façade, it is now home to a large shopping arcade. From this important point you can quickly and easily reach the Convention Centre. The Convention Centre plays a particularly important role for the city. A large new site was allocated for Convention Centre purposes to the north of the city, on the grounds of the old airport.
One of the largest memorials in Europe, the ‘Völkerschlachtdenkmal’, is situated southeast of Leipzig’s inner city. It was built in 1913 and commemorates the Battle of Nations, which took place at the gates of Leipzig. Other than the Second World War this was the largest battle that took place in Leipzigs’ history, which resulted in Napoleon’s defeat. The Monument, with its distinctive silhouette has long been a symbol of the city.
The people of Leipzig have played an important role in Germanys’ turbulent history, from the crucial Monday demonstrations that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The movement took place in the centre of Leipzig, at the square in front of the ‘Nikolaikirche’. After Re-unification many artists could once again inhabit the old Cotton Mill or the ‘Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei’. The amount of colour and number of exhibitions at this particularly unique location are not to be missed.

Excellent place to stay in Leipzig. Handy to the "Karli" (Karl-Liebknecht-Straße) restaurant belt in a quiet residential area. Easy walk into centre of town. Close to the Bayerisher Bahnhof S-bahn station and beer garden. Very comfortable and spacious apartment with all conveniences. Friendly and helpful host. Will definitely stay here again.
All in all we enjoyed our stay in the apartment, as it is really large and without traffic noise.
Nevertheless there arose some items that left room for improvement:
- If you want to prepare dinner, you will face the problem that the available frying pans and pots are simply not big enough for a family of 4 persons.
- More attention concerning the cleanliness of the whole appartment as well as e.g. the dishes would also have been highly appreciated.
- During our stay (end of May 2013) it was quite cold and rainy in Leipzig. Unfortunately the radiators of the whole apartment where only in operation after 07:00 in the morning and they where not hot enough to heat the apartment up to an acceptable temperature during the whole day and evening.
- To find out the log-in data for the WiFi connection, we spent quite a long time to finally find the required data on a scrunched post-it in the living room among other similar slips of paper explaining the function of the television and so on. It would be appretiated to receive a kind of booklet with all the necessary data.
Sehr schöne, neue Ferienwohnung! Waren zum Konzert auf der Festwiese - nur 35 min gemütlich zu Fuß.

Heather is a lovely host. She worries about her guests are comfortable in her appartment. She lives in the same building, so in the case of some problem or question, she is avaliable inmediatly.
She leaves a folder in english and german full of information, really completed: a map from the zone, with the supermarkets or bakeries, to the closest stops for Tram or Sbahn (train), as instructions for using the washmachine/dryer or the WIFI, etc.
I went for the Wave Gotik Treffen, and the appartment is located in a very peaceful street, just 10 minutes walking from the Tram 11 stop (and this one is located in "Karli", a cool street full of nice shops and restaurants).
The appartment is big and bright.
Offene, unkomplizierte Gastgeberin. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.
