Well located flat, a few minutes walk from the centre. Very cute, but only for 4 persons as there aren't more than 4 chairs or 4 breakfast bowls. The shower isn't very good: too cold or too hot! It was perfect though for our stay.
We had chosen for this appartment because of the positive reactions on the website. After our visit we are a little bit disappointed. The positive and negative things were:
- the appartement is near the center of Straatsbourg
- it is cheap to part you car in front of the appartment
- the appartment has a lot of space and all facilities ( we did not use them) are
there, like a wassing machine, dryer etc.
- there are two bedrooms which gaves privacy when you are with more people
- we had some problems with the sink and the owner came directly to solve the problem
- you have to go up 7 stairs behoor your recht the appartment. Not a problem for
young people, but for older people it is (when you also have a lot of luggage).
- in the diningroom there is only one small coach for the television, so that is not very comfortable when you are with more people. (there is also a tabel with for chairs)
- in the window in the kitchen we found three dirty ashtrays
- the furniture is in poor condition (the table in the kitchen was very unstable fo instance)
- the two bed in one of the bedrooms were not very solid (small when you are tall like me)
- rough edges at the end of the curtains
- the cutlery was not clean and the kitchenfloor stuck
So we found the earlier reviews not realistic and because of our expectations where so high, we where in general disapointend. We would give our review a 5
Compact historic apartment. Has a very welcoming feel. Spacious lounge, functional kitchen, good bathroom and second bedroom.Perfect location near to shops and sights. Bertrand was a very helpful clear host. The only improvement that may be needed is in internet connection which did drop out at times. But a great place to stay easy to reach from the main railway station by foot and bus stop at the door.
The host cancelled the booking, this review is automated.
Great place, and really great location. Michel was very flexible and met us on time. We had a great sleep and enjoyed the kitchen too. laundry and wifi were excellent. Thanks Michel!
Smooth experience. Michel was a good host and the apartment lived up to our expectations. Location was also excellent. Recommended highly.
Nice flat - nice stay! Everthing worked fine.
Getting access and leaving was easy.
Nice tips by Michel.
Only a few minutes to go by foot to inner city.
This is a spacious apartment on the fourth floor of an old Strasbourg building. There is no lift so you need to take the stairs. It was a great location for us, being close to my meeting venue and also only a 15-20 minute walk into the old city (just follow the tramline down Avenue de la Paix). As Strasbourg is pretty flat, it is easy to walk around. If you prefer, there is also a nearby tram stop and it is just two stops to Place de La Republique (and another stop to Broglie which is just a short walk from the Cathedral) and two stops in the opposite direction to the European Parliament buildings. A day ticket for 24hrs is 4.20Euro.
Inside, the apartment has plenty of space with two bedrooms, living/dining room a kitchen and bathroom with shower over the bath. There is a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, hotplates, oven and coffee maker but the apartment lacks some useful items as there is no iron or ironing board, no toaster and no kettle.
The crockery is limited, particularly cups, some of which were chipped and one had no handle. I am not particularly fussy but while the apartment was generally clean, the crockery wasn’t, so we needed to wash it by hand properly before use.
The bed is low but was comfortable. The simple lounge in the living room was more comfortable than it looked. We had good hot water. The Internet connection was faultless and there was good TV reception. Being an old, somewhat characterful building, the floorboards are a bit squeaky.
The owner was pleasant to deal with and responded to our emails promptly. We were met at the apartment as arranged assisted to get our luggage up to the apartment. We were also met promptly at the agreed time for handover on departure.
There is no written information about local stores, trams etc in the apartment although there is a small collection of brochures. There is a Carrefour store about 10 minutes walk away on Rue Lauth.
Parking is available on the street and although spaces fill we were always able to find a spot to park. Currently fees are 1 Euro for 9-12noon and 2-5pm, 12-2pm is free and after 5pm is free. The only thing being that if parking all day you need to be around between 12noon and 2pm to get an afternoon ticket, they cant be purchased in advance. However, you can buy a ticket in the evening that will cover the next morning’s parking.
Overall this was a spacious apartment in a good location with on street parking available and we would happily stay here again. It could be improved by the addition of a few appliances (kettle, iron and toaster) and a little bit of information on location of nearby shops etc to make it easier for guests to get orientated to the area on arrival.
