Temporary Autonomous Room 1st floor
|地址||boulevard boyer, 13003 marseille, 法国|
This place is different from all the refuges in the world. Le Consulat HK is a breeding ground for ideas and change : almost a foreign territory, in the heart of Marseille.
Located in an old working-class neighbourhood, tucked away in a small alley, halfway between the Saint Charles train station (15 min walk) and the art centre La Friche (5 min), this 160 sqm house has its own private courtyard, with direct access from the conservatory.
Inside the house, living spaces are organised around the residents’ movements: all at once a home, a B&B and an artists residence. This micro-economy makes it possible for us to sustain a timeless zone: a place where people can get together and feel at home.
On the one hand, we invite artists to stay at the house and facilitate creative encounters. On the other hand, we welcome people who need a place to stay: a "Temporary Autonomous Room". In the house we provoke creative, intellectual and human encounters - something like breathing, eating, thinking. The owners, residents and hosts are the actors, spectators and co-authors of a new way of living. This living space is packed with things to look at. It is inhabited by creative projects that are displayed and accessible to all, whether temporary or permanent.
We offer a break from the outside world. We want to create an atmosphere of unreal and secrets to be uncovered: a place for the unexpected and the extraordinary to happen. As you can see, what matters is not the reality of what happens behind the house's walls, but rather what our imagination will make of it.
This is the ideal place for a professional trip or a holiday between the city and the countryside. A place where you can be autonomous, take a breath and experience time differently.
The « Guest Room » formula includes accomodation from 33€ for one person not including breakfast.
The « artist residence » formula is built around the needs of the residents, as part of a personalised exchange programme.
There are many way we can help you make the most of your time in Marseille: breakfast, full board or half board, transfer to the station, airport or ferry, bicycle or scooter rental, advice on visits, walks, restaurants, cafes, flea market, museums, antique shops, beach, a tour of the military baths...
In the 3rd arrondissement of Marseille, in the neighbourhood of La Belle de Mai, 20 minutes by foot or bus from the Vieux Port and Canebière (city centre). The house is next to the arts centre of La Friche (art exhibitions, theatre, dance, live music, farmers’ market, garden...). Nearby you will also find the media studios of La Friche, the daily food market of Place Cadenas and all its shops and amenities (fishmonger, butcher, fruits and vegetables and supermarket), the soap factory « Le Fer à Cheval », the Longchamp park, a live music venue (l’Embobineuse), some great theatres (le Gyptis and les Bancs Publics), a contemporary dance centre (KLAP), some restaurants (try café Le Rouge, tea house La Bonne Etoile or community restaurant la Kuizin...).
The house is laid out as follows:
- First floor : in addition to the two family bedrooms, one double bedroom (19 sqm) with a double bed, overlooking the blind alley (an extra bed can be added in).

« From the countless viewpoints the city offers, you often get a feel for its magnitude but can never quite embrace its totality. From each of its hills you can see the city, forming an amphitheatre ; rarely has a city offered itself to the eye from so many perspectives without ever revealing itself entirely. Even if you have been in love with the city for some time, you will always discover some new spot on her languorous body, some unexpected angle, some hidden, still unfulfilled corner. » (in Marseille Ville Sauvage, Baptiste Lanaspeze, Actes Sud, 2013).

This was a highly enjoyable stay. My hosts were extremely friendly, generous and helpful. The neighborhood is wonderful. I can only recommend!
We loved staying at Isabelle and Kalagan's place in Marseille. It is nice and close to the main railway station but not too close that you can hear the trains. The flat itself has a really nice layout and uses the space effectively (for example having storage space underneath the raised semi-loft bed). The balcony is fantastic for sitting outside and having dinner and drinks (even in November!!) and has a great view of the beautiful Marseille Municipal Archives building.
The host cancelled the booking, this review is automated.
I found Isabelle and Calagan to be very warm, friendly and very welcoming, I am a quite person who keeps a low profile and so we didn't have dinner or a drink together. As hosts, I think they are perfect and very helpful. I definitely go there again and would happily recommend them to my circle of friends.
